Why Should Suppliers and Manufacturers Care?
When you think of aluminum, products like soda cans or aircraft parts might come to mind. But another critical product in the aluminum industry is the aluminum sheet. Used in everything from automotive bodies to construction and beyond, the demand for aluminum sheets is vast.
As a supplier or manufacturer, ensuring that your aluminum sheet comes from responsible sources can provide a competitive edge. Ethically sourced materials resonate with environmentally-conscious consumers and businesses alike. Plus, incorporating sustainable practices can lead to operational efficiencies and potentially reduce costs in the long run.
ASI’s Role in Promoting Sustainable Aluminum
ASI is at the forefront of ensuring that aluminum—whether it be in the form of sheets, cans, or other products—is produced and sourced responsibly. Their Performance and Chain of Custody Standards provide a blueprint for entities in the aluminum value chain to ensure their operations are sustainable and socially responsible.
Suppliers who source aluminum from ASI-certified producers can confidently tell their customers about the sustainable origins of their products. Similarly, manufacturers that use aluminum sheets in their products can assure their stakeholders that they prioritize sustainability and human rights in their production processes.
Golden Aluminum’s Recognitions by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)
ASI CoC Certification for Golden Aluminum, highlighting commitment to sustainable and ethical aluminum sheet manufacturing processes.
We at Golden Aluminum are proud to share with our esteemed customers and partners our recent recognitions by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). These certifications underscore our unwavering commitment to sustainability, transparency, and ethical practices in our operations.
February 14, 2023 – A Red-letter Day for Golden Aluminum
Golden Aluminum Inc. was honored with the ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V1 (2017) Certification for our recycling-based aluminum rolling mill in Fort Lupton, Colorado. This prestigious certification encompasses our innovative proprietary block casting technology, as well as our rolling, finishing, and coil coating operations. This certification stands as a testament to our consistent efforts in maintaining a transparent chain of custody throughout our value chain.
What makes this recognition even more special is that our facility remelts aluminum, both primary and recycled, and crafts the molten metal through our unique casting process to produce high-quality rolled aluminum coils.
Our achievement is also indicative of our diligent policies and due diligence processes in place to address pivotal issues like corruption, human rights violations, and materials sourced from high-risk areas.
The certification process was rigorous and exhaustive, overseen by an independent third-party audit by Bureau Veritas Certification.
June 7, 2022 – Marking a Milestone in Our Sustainability Journey
Before our recent CoC certification, in June 2022, we were elated to receive the ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification for our Fort Lupton facility. Our rolled products, cherished and used across various sectors like packaging, automotive, construction, and electronics, are now recognized for adhering to ASI’s stringent sustainability criteria.
Our certification stands as proof of our adherence to the ASI Performance Standard’s 59 criteria, spanning Governance, Environment, and Social pillars. These criteria delve into essential aspects ranging from biodiversity and Indigenous Peoples rights to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our commitment is reinforced by the fact that we were audited and certified by Bureau Veritas Certification.
At Golden Aluminum, our achievements with ASI are not merely badges of honor; they are reminders of our responsibility. As we forge ahead, we remain committed to pushing the envelope, ensuring that our products stand as paragons of quality and sustainability in the aluminum industry.
Conclusion
The future of the aluminum industry lies in sustainable and responsible practices. As suppliers and manufacturers, it’s essential to understand the significance of initiatives like ASI. Embracing such standards not only benefits the environment and communities involved in aluminum production but also positions businesses as leaders in a market that’s becoming more conscious of its ecological footprint.
